When They Cry by inklou When They Cry by inklou
I just went all out and drew them all looking exceptionally emotional LOL

This is partly inspired by the drawing style from the first volume of \"Umineko no Naku Koro Ni\", or \"When They Cry 3\" manga series.

Twisted facial expressions. My favourite.

It's very good. The light shade of red illuminates the anger that I know you wanted to describe, and the loose lines and and shadows complimented just that. The eyes are very detailed and I can see the emotion! I'm not exactly sure what to tell you to improve on, for you've got great talent. Perhaps you could work on clothing. I mean, you've got those down in a nutshell as well, but work on making them look a little bit softer. I know a few artists too many that if I put on anything their characters were wearing, it'd be a miracle if I could lift my arms. I don't know, honestly. I just really like your art. Bravo!

I think this is a really wonderful peice. Deeply thought provoking, and with alot of movement to it. Your scratchy use of shading and sketches really generates a very vivid, almost angry effect. This, combined with their actual expressions creates tension and dramatics without being forcefully overdramatised, and we are given a very distinct feeling of life and movement. Also, despite their being no speech bubbles - something which I believe gives it extra power - each of the characters has a clear vocal exclimation which adds again to the movement and action of the picture. I particularly like the way you've done the eyes. The stark white in contrast to the red and black of the shading, it's very vivid and creates a real intensity to their stair - especially Sherlock's.
Am I right in saying it's Moriarty, John, Sherlock, Mycroft and Lestrade? Because if so, I really feel you've captured a great deal of the characteristics in the expressions. Moriarty's psychopathic glee. John's wrathfulness and protectiveness born of his loyalty. In contrast Sherlock's calm expression is mixed with his intensity - and you've really captured that well with a mixture of the lowered brow line combined with the close mouth and drawn lips. Mycroft's expression looks almost disgusted - possibly at his own vulnerability, that he is fearful for Sherlock's well being? And Lestrade's concern at the end - genuine fear of an outsider. This is all speculation - but what I mean to say is that I really believe you've captured the character brilliantly. A really wonderful peice of work.

I love the ferocity of their expressions here. Jim looks psychotic, John angry, Sherlock intense and calm, Mycroft disgusted, and Lestrade horrified. You've done a really good job of capturing those emotions so they just leap right out at the viewer without any dialogue to tell us what is going on.

Man, you have no idea how happy you've made me, sometimes people couldn't tell who they are or what emotions are being depicted in here, haha x) ;;;
